Psychedelic Ethics

The psychedelic landscape is reshaping beneath our feet. Psychedelics have been associated with Western counterculture for over 60 years but are on the brink of becoming integrated into our mainstream culture, as they are integrated into several living indigenous cultures.

In this strange moment, taxpayers in some Western countries are simultaneously funding research aimed at widening access to healing psychedelic experiences, based on evidence of their safety and efficacy, whilst also funding the wasteful criminalisation of psychedelic users, based on long-debunked myths.

We are part of an emergent psychedelic industry that needs to be mindful of the forces that could drain away the promise of this moment.

We are part of an emergent psychedelic industry that needs to be mindful of the forces that could drain away the promise of this moment. As brilliant humans work to mainstream psychedelic therapy, it is encouraging that many have pledged themselves to work with a spirit of integrity and service.

For our part, we are proud for our co-founder Ciara Sherlock to be representing Alalaho on the board of The Guild Of Guides, an umbrella organisation bringing together psychedelic facilitators to encourage the implementation and dissemination of professional knowledge and standards, best practices, and an overarching code of conduct.
